The Evangelical Commitment

Most Holy Spirit,

I wish to commit myself
as a witness to Christ and to the Father's Love.
However, aware as I am of my weaknesses,
I hand myself over to you in complete trust,
so that you may fill me
with the power of your strength,
so that I may have the courage to proclaim the Gospel
in word and deed, always and everywhere.

I ask you to bring about in me
a New Pentecost, like the one which of old,
in the Upper Room in Jerusalem,
transformed the disciples into apostles,
as they waited,
in prayer with Mary the Mother of God
and of the emerging Church,
for your coming
which marked the first Evangelization.

Reveal to me
the secret of remaining in union with Mary,
so that, with her, I may be totally receptive
to this pentecostal outpouring
and may, with her, be given strength
to stand at the foot of the Cross,
accepting with love that redemptive suffering
which is at the heart of every apostolate.
