Commitment at the heart of the Church

The meaning of all pastoral involvement

At the time of the first evangelization, the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles gathered in prayer with Mary, the mother of Jesus, in the Cenacle of Jerusalem. The Spirit’s action, represented as a powerful wind and tongues of fire, have forever marked the history of the Church and of every apostolate. Strengthened by the gifts of the Holy spirit, the apostles then left the Cenacle to heed the call of Jesus: “Go into all the world and proclaim the Good News to the whole creation.” (Mk.16.15)

Every Christian, by virtue of baptism, is likewise invited to become a witness to Christ always and everywhere, to translate his or her personal prayer into action so that the Good News might penetrate the hearts of all people and give life to the world.

“I came to cast fire upon the earth; and would that it were already kindled!” (Lk.12.49)

We must offer this light of the Gospel to all people, for they need, more than ever, to discover Jesus Christ: the Way, the Truth and the Life.

This is why the FIAT Association proposes to those who wish to commit themselves more fully to the service of evangelization, to make the “Evangelical Commitment” during a suitable retreat and to renew this act each year at Pentecost.
