Father John Catoir and I are delighted that you are interested in knowing more about FIAT. Our Blessed Mother said "yes" to the Holy Spirit at the Annunciation. In the Bible her words were "Be it done to me according to your word," from the Latin translation "FIAT mihi secundum verbum tuum," thus the word FIAT, Mary's "yes" to God.

At Pentecost once again the Holy Spirit came to bring Christ to the world. On the birthday of the Church twelve frightened Apostles were emboldened by the Spirit to go forth and proclaim the Good News of God's love. Mary was praying to the Holy Spirit with the apostles at the time.

We believe a new Pentecost is dawning in the Church today. By uniting with Mary and praying to the Holy Spirit for wisdom and strength, we become today's apostles.
